Cozy Sleeping Bag
Six short quests across five zones, a climb and a jumping puzzle, for a bag that adds 3% to every kill and quest while you level.
Season of Discovery's Cozy Sleeping Bag is back in Forever. Nothing in the chain is marked on the map and no NPC hands it out: every step is an object you click in the world, and each one tells you where the next lies. Both factions walk the same five zones on both continents, so set aside an evening for it.
Before you go
- Be level 14 or higher. The first object does nothing before that.
- The chain is the same for both factions. Only the first quest swaps its two zones: Alliance start in Westfall and hand in at the Barrens, Horde start at the Barrens and hand in in Westfall.
- Loch Modan is Alliance land with level 30 guards, so Horde players have the longest trip and the most to dodge there.
- Two steps are climbs with a jump across a gap. A fall costs a corpse run at most; nothing resets.
- Student Fodder from the later steps heals and restores resources in Forever. It gave rested experience in Season of Discovery; it no longer does.
The route, step by step
Westfall and the Barrens first, in whichever order your faction gets them, then Stonetalon Mountains, Loch Modan and Hillsbrad Foothills. Coordinates are the in-game map's; type /way and the numbers if you run a coordinate addon.
- ...and that note you found (Alliance, Horde)Alliance: Westfall, Alexston Farmstead. Horde: the Barrens, the burnt tower south of Camp Taurajo. Alliance 37.4, 50.6, Horde 46.4, 73.9
Click the Burned-Out Remains in the wrecked cart (Alliance) or the burnt tower (Horde) to pick up the quest. It sends you to the same ruin in the other faction's zone, across the sea: Alliance hand in at the Barrens tower, Horde at the Westfall cart.
Reward: Swiftness Potion, Lesser Troll's Blood Potion.
- Stepping StonesStonetalon Mountains, an abandoned camp north-east of Sun Rock Retreat. 40.7, 52.4
The path up starts at 50.9, 52.3 and winds west to a camp with a tent and a box. Click the Pocket Litter on the box. The optional quest Rekindle appears here too: click the cold campfire and use the Simple Wood and Flint and Tinder you were just given.
Reward: Sturdy Lunchbox (a 12-slot bag), Simple Wood, Flint and Tinder, and a Mining Pick or a Farmer's Shovel.
- ScrambleStonetalon Mountains, a hilltop just north of the camp. 39.6, 49.9
Head north from the camp and climb the hill. Near the top there is a gap you have to jump across; land, then click the Mound of Dirt.
Reward: Three Student Fodder, 200 Feathered Arrows, 200 Exploding Shot, and a Silver Star, Moonsight Rifle or Precision Bow.
- Wet JobLoch Modan, the Stonewrought Dam at the north end of the lake. 49.4, 12.9
Walk out onto the dam facing north, towards the Wetlands. Below the top edge are carved dwarf heads: drop onto them and work along to the Carved Figurine, then click it.
Reward: Hickory Pipe, Rumsey Rum Light.
- Eagle's FistHillsbrad Foothills, Thoradin's Wall on the Arathi border, south-east of Durnholde Keep. 87.4, 49.7
A cart leans against the wall at a gap on the Hillsbrad side. Jump onto the cart, from the cart onto the wall, and follow the top of the wall into the room inside it. On the right-hand side a Messenger Bag hangs on the wall (22.4, 24.2 on the Arathi Highlands map). Click it.
Reward: Leads straight into the last quest.
- This Must Be The PlaceThe same room inside Thoradin's Wall. 87.4, 49.7
Directly beneath the Messenger Bag lies a Hastily Rolled-Up Satchel. Click it and the chain is done.
Reward: Cozy Sleeping Bag and five Student Fodder.
Using the bag
The reward is Cozy Sleeping Bag, bound to you, and the buff it gives is Well-Rested.
- Use the bag anywhere that is not already a rested area, so not in a city or an inn. It unrolls on the ground in front of you and your character lies down on it.
- Every full minute on the bag adds one stack of Well-Rested. A stack is 1% more experience from kills and quests, and it stacks three times: three minutes for the full 3%.
- Anyone in your party can lie on your bag, so one bag covers a group when the others' are on cooldown. A flagged player cannot use an unflagged player's bag, and the other way round.
- The bag disappears if you walk about 100 yards away from it, and it counts as a rested area while you lie there.
- It stacks with the Camp Benefits buff from a campsite and with the experience bonus on cooked food, so the three together are the levelling kit. You can eat while lying on the bag.
What changed from Season of Discovery
- The quests, the objects and the route are the ones Season of Discovery added in patch 1.15.1 (February 2024). The item is the same item, number 211527, and the buff is the same Well-Rested spell.
- The cooldown is shorter. The Season of Discovery tooltip read 2 hours 40 minutes; beta guides report about one hour in Forever, which is also how long the buff is reported to last.
- Student Fodder no longer gives rested experience. In Forever it restores about 500 health at once and 1,050 more over 12 seconds.
- The first quest's potion is a Lesser Troll's Blood Potion rather than Strong, in line with the chain opening at level 14.
Open questions
- How long Well-Rested lasts in Forever: one guide says one hour, another two. Season of Discovery's lasted two hours. Read the buff's own tooltip on your character and tell us.
- The exact cooldown on the bag's tooltip in the current beta build.
- Whether Eagle's Fist pays anything of its own, or only hands you on.
