The Forever Open: the $50,000 WoW Forever duel tournament
Tips Out's open dueling tournament on the WoW Forever beta: level 30, Horde, PvP ruleset, 17 and 18 October 2026. This page digests the organisers' own announcement, rules and sign-up page and links to each. The X post and the Forever PvP Discord are the source of truth; where they and this page disagree, they win.
Where to go
The announcement lives on X. Everything after it, from registration help to the qualifier format and any rule change, lands in the Forever PvP Discord first; the rules document says changes may be posted to social media or video but does not promise it. If you are entering, sit in the Discord.

All three open in the same tab and belong to the organisers, not to this site. The rules are a Google Doc; Raider.IO needs JavaScript.

Dates
Times are the organisers' own, in Pacific time; 11am PT is 8pm CEST and 18:00 UTC through October.
- First reported: the $50,000 tournament comes up on creator streams and Icy Veins writes it up the same evening.
- Official announcement on X at 11am PT (8pm CEST). Registration opens on Raider.IO. Only characters created from this moment on count.
- Registration closes at 11am PT (8pm CEST). Late registrations are not accepted.
- Deadline for the qualifier format and ruleset, which the rules promise at least one week before the qualifiers, in the Discord.
- Check-in on Raider.IO in the morning (window TBD), then the qualifying stage (time TBD).
- Finals: the top four of each class, best-of-five series (time TBD).
- Last full day of the beta, per Blizzard.
How to enter
- Get onto the beta. Access comes from the opt-in on the official WoW Forever site (not guaranteed) or from pre-purchasing the Epic Pack or the Forever Collection (guaranteed).
- Create a brand-new Horde character on the PvP ruleset, on or after 27 Sep 11am PT. Characters made before that are ineligible and get removed. Give it the last name Foreverpvp; that is required.
- Register the character on Raider.IO (rio.gg/foreveropen). Every extra character has to be registered on its own, inside the window, and you play only one of them.
- Join the Forever PvP Discord. Registration questions go to the RaiderIO role there.
- Log in on that character and whisper one of the admins for an invite to the guild <The Forever Open>: Admin Foreverpvp, Bog Foreverpvp, Prestige One, Admin Musashi or Magetea Foreverpvp.
- Reach level 30 before check-in on 17 Oct, and have 15 gold on you for the entry fee.
- Check in on Raider.IO on the morning of 17 Oct (window TBD). Be ready to stream your own duels on Twitch, YouTube or Kick and keep the VOD.
Prize
$25,000to the champion
$2,777to the top finisher of each of the 9 classes
Ties within a class split the class prize evenly. Winners invoice the organisers before payment. The champion is crowned Death's Duelist.
Three stages
27 Sep to 17 Oct. Level the registered character to 30 and prepare it however you like.
17 Oct. Everyone registered, checked in, level 30 and paid plays. The format and ruleset come at least a week before.
18 Oct. The top four of each class enter a bracket and play best-of-five series for the title.
Rules in short
The rules document is binding and can change at any time; this is the digest for a first read.
- One talent build per stage. It may differ between qualifiers and finals but cannot change once a stage starts, and you may be asked to submit it 24 hours ahead. Legacy points are allowed.
- Your own class abilities and buffs are fine. Buffs from other players only if they last two minutes or longer, so no borrowed Power Word: Shield.
- Consumables are allowed except Magic Dust and the six protection potions (Fire, Nature, Frost, Arcane, Holy, Shadow). Holiday buffs and holiday consumables are banned. A banned item may not even sit in your bags; the list can change.
- Stay at the dueling spot. No hearthing to repair, and at most three minutes offline in total. Warlocks get one shard trip after checking with an admin.
- One to two minutes between duels to heal, buff and drink. Duels start 20 yards apart from the flag, unmounted, after a ten-second countdown. No opener is guaranteed for any class.
- Sixty seconds of inactivity is a delay-of-game penalty. Stalling to reset cooldowns forfeits the duel. Fleeing a duel disqualifies you, and forcing an opponent to flee disqualifies the one doing it.
- A duel that times out is replayed, with food and water capped at three for the rest of that matchup.
- Stream your own point of view on Twitch, YouTube or Kick, including bag and talent inspections, and keep the VOD. Not streaming can forfeit your matches and prize money.
- Not there when your duel is called? You can be replaced on the spot and lose your place.
- The organisers' own disclaimer: dueling is not an officially supported Blizzard esport, and a bug, a technicality or an admin call can cost you your shot.
Broadcast
The qualifiers and finals stream on Esfand's and Xaryu's Twitch channels, with both commentating. Co-streaming is allowed within Blizzard's, the platform's and the tournament's rules.
Known snags and open questions
- Horde character creation is throttled. The beta's PvP realms lock creation on the faction that is far ahead in numbers, and players have reported being unable to make a Horde character since 25 Sep. There is no announced workaround beyond trying again at quieter hours.
- The beta is not at level 30 yet. Blizzard said the cap starts at 20 and rises to 30 later in the beta, without a public date. The tournament assumes 30 arrives before 17 Oct.
- Times and format are TBD. Check-in window, qualifier and finals start times, the qualifier format and the dueling location are all still to be announced, in the Discord.
- One faction per account on the PvP ruleset. ForeverChanges reports that an account can only play one faction on the PvP ruleset, so an existing Alliance PvP character would block a Horde entry. Not verified here.
- Community tournament guidelines. WoW Forever News asked how a $50,000 pool sits with Blizzard's usual community tournament guidelines. No organiser or Blizzard statement has addressed it.
